More old-school recipes
So, my mom dropped off two boxes of recipe cards from my great-grandmother (born 1899 in Cheney, Kansas) and an old, old cookbook.

The cover says "Mt. Vernon Cook Book", published by the Cheney Sentinel, by "P.G. Kroeker Wholesale Grain, Flour, and Feed Cheney Kansas". I haven't found a date yet, so I'm trying narrow down the possible range.

"The Cheney Sentinel" was published from 1894-current.

There's an ad for "Baker's Chocolate" from "Walter Baker & Co. Ltd.". That became a division of General Mills in 1927.

An ad for "Cheney State Bank" says "Guaranteed Deposits since 1909" and "Otto Wulf, Pres.". I've found statements indicating that he wasn't president of the bank yet in 1910, but was in 1918.

An ad for "Fred F. Krase" "The One Price Shoeman". This store operated from 1904 to 1924.

An ad for "Jell-O" from "The Genesee Pure Food Co.". This was renamed to "Jell-O Company" in 1923.

An ad for "Jersey Cream Flour", which appear in Google's archived newspaper ads from 1912-1913. Not sure how meaningful that is.

So, I've narrowed down the possible date range to "sometime between 1910 and 1923". I think this should be preserved and scanned by some sort of professional...

An ad for "Cheney State Bank" says "Guaranteed Deposits since 1920"

I'd think it has to be between 1920 and 1923 then if the bit about 1920 was in the book. Unless the date reference came from your searching and I'm misreading. *smiles*

Edited. I went back to check the ad, and it says "1909".

*chuckles* That makes more sense. I didn't really think you'd miss an obvious clue like that.
