Conferences, conventions, and mega-concerts
A bit of an urge to GO and DO, but not specific, yet.
March 11-16 SXSW Interactive HAHAHAHA no. Maybe next year, and try to drag Kat along for the music/film/festivals portion.
March 13-14 Emerald City COmic Con Maybe I'll go poke around this year
April 1-4 Norwescon Already registered, hotel room booked. The comfortable, local fandom con
April 16-18 Coachella lineup isn't worth The Desert. Definitely not worth LAX
May 19-20 Google I/O (San Francisco) Could be good. $400 (+travel) good?
May 29-30 Sasquatch (Gorge) Lineup isn't very tempting this year (for me)
June 18-20 Crypticon I've never been, but might be good.
July 22-25 Comic-con (San Diego) Already registered, safety hotel room booked. Look forward to being downtownish, more access to evening parties.
July 29-Aug 2 Tango magic If Kyna is able to dance by then
September 3-5 PAX I don't pay much attention to games, and I'm not a big fan of Penny Arcade, but I guess I could give it a try
September 19-23 JavaOne (San Francisco) Was good in previous years, but I expect will have little utility
September 17-19 NFJS (Seattle) I hear good things, when it isn't all Rails
October 1-3 Lovecraft Film Festival (Portland) I keep meaning to go.
October 29-31 Voodoo Experience (New Orleans) Lineup hasn't been announced yet. Maybe if it's awesome.
November 19-21 Steamcon
... of course, I should also home the skill of meeting people at these things, in some sort of lasting way.

A note about PAX is while it is predominantly video games, if you're AT ALL interested in board games or card games or geekcore music or movies or any of that, you can find things to do there.

All I have to say about Coachella is Gary Numan.

True,I don't have to pay for Coachella, so that makes it easier for me but mother fucking Gary Numan. We are hoping we tours here because I cannot get a shoot with him at Coachella no way, no how, but in a lesser press frenzied area, who knows.

I think that would mean I could die happy. Gary muther fucking NUMAN!

SXSW- I had originally had this on the schedule, it's free for me to go (sans travel cost) but due to recent family issues, I had to drop some things from my schedule, this is one of them :(

ECCC, this always seems to fall on a bad weekend for me.

NWC - so there, room booked membership got-- I think, shit it's been a while I might have forgot to get a membership haha, but I got a room.

SDCC, i realllly want to go, but not sure I can afford it this year.

Coachella -- again it's free for me, I am going to shoot bands!

So, Atlanta in September scares you less than Austin in March?
Lady Doomlithera on February 23rd, 2010 11:29 pm (UTC)
Atlanta inside hotels with thousands of other geeks and not having a chance to interact with the outside except for brief spates where I have no other choice.

Fair enough. I could give it a try.

The run up seems to be about as long as Comic Con. Hotels are vanishing, though seemingly much less expensive.
