Wedding countdown: 17 days  
  • Avoid catching death-plague from coworkers OR recover quickly
  • Ping Kathy RE family dinner. My mom still hasn't met her mom.
  • Contact insurance agent RE certification for event
  • Balance booze, tablecloth expenses into shared accounts
  • By end-of-week: Get insurance certification
  • Draft update note for caterer
  • Send update note to caterer
  • Soon: figure out date for family dinner
  • Request Shift bathhouse hours from 10 AM to Noon
  • By November 6: final payment, contract to Seattle Parks Department
  • Decide officiant plan.
  • Warn officiant (or potential officiants)
  • November 7: party
  • Figure out a "get out of town and recover" weekend in the near post-wedding future (Dec or Jan)
  • November 8: Will I be up to run game? Maybe not, but a six-week hiatus sucks
  • By November 11: 30% second deposit, contract with caterer
  • Figure out which shoes I'm wearing. Cadet clunkers, brogues from with my kilt, Fluevog boots of awesome, something else
  • Pick up beer, cider, wine
  • Trim hair
  • Wedding license
  • Decide opening dance (lead candidate: #1 Crush by Garbage - will need to obtain CD), other music requests for DJ
  • November 14: Last tattoo appointment before wedding.
  • November 14, 15: Massive house cleaning
  • Schedule drop-off time for cake
  • Growler(s) of one more kind of beer (maybe)
  • Press shirt, pants
  • Figure out location of after-party, for people who stay through (and help with) tear-down. Default of our house.
  • Figure out munchie food for us, anybody else present early.
  • Pick up case of "good" soda for non-booze adults
  • Pick up chocolaty somethings to scatter on tables
  • There should probably be centerpiece decorations of some sort. Ikea vases + hit a flower stand morning of?
  • Pick up Ikea vases?
  • Final payment to DJ
  • Payment to photographer
  • November 21: Get flowers?
  • November 21: leave house with set-up clothes, wedding clothes and jewelry, deodorant, altoids, antihistamines, decorations, snack food, wedding license, checkbook, Flintstones chewable morphine, bride, beer, cider, wine, shoes (formal & dance), chocolates, flowers
  • November 21: Noon, arrive at bathhouse, set up tables, chairs, tablecloths, etc.
  • November 21: 1 PM caterers arrive.
  • November 21: 3 PM time of invitation. Dress code is "awesome".
  • November 21: 9 PM tear down (may start earlier if six hours is too much
  • November 21: 10 PM must be out of bathhouse
  • November 22: Recovery. Aggregate notes into Thank-You List of Doom. Probably not up for running game.
  • Family dinner
  • December 21: final payment to caterer

And I *might* have the Romeo + Juliet soundtrack on CD around here. Want me to see if I can find it?

I've got it digitally - it would only be a matter of getting it there, through transfer or old-school mailing a disc.

You should feel free to discuss handing some of this off. Sort of part of my job, man. I can go to IKEA or something.

Yeah, I do need to verify that flower plan with Kyna before the IKEA run.

Parallelizable, unblocked tasks at this point include:
* Growler or two of some other kind of beer (the two cases are Snoqualmie IPA) (maybe)
* Figure out if there's a good Ballardish option for after-event hanging out, if people are going to be so inclined by that time in the night.
* Chocolaty somthings to scatter on tables. Kyna mentioned getting a large bag from Seattle chocolates.
* Figure out snackfood for people who will be there ridiculously early: at least you, me, Kyna, Marci, Sean, Andy, Angel (and Rob?)

I'll probably talk with you this weekend about taking on some of those. In the meantime, I'm mostly focused on closing out the City of Seattle paperwork.

Things I can help with:

*table arrangements -- Actually, I can't volunteer for this, but wanderingfey actually has a good eye for centerpieces. I can certainly help put them together.

*House cleaning

*Picking up stuff, especially food bits. (Yay Costco!)

*Set up and tear down day of.

(Note to self: bring extra nylons and fabric glue...)
