My sister finally put together an online gift registry, for her next baby (a boy, as I found out today). The name on the registry is "Tristian Michael Gudge". It's at target.

Much more current than the Amazon wishlist she has. Usable, too.

Tristian? TRISTIAN?

The hell's up with the extra I? Was Tristan not happenin' enough?

That's exactly what I was wondering. Or like some weird conglomeration of 'Tristan' and 'Christian'.

Well, this is Sean's sister...

I was all like, "Pshaw, Sean just misspelled the name." Then I went to the Target link.

A latinization of the Celtic "Tristan". A bit unusual, but not unheard of.

And VERY apropos of my sister.

Yes it is Tristian, I am sorry if you don't like it spelled that way but I do, and I am the mommy. So there! ;)

Tristian is fine. I like the sound of it, and the feel is appropriate. From what I can tell, the traditional Celtic name "Tristan" was often spelled "Tristian" after contact with the Romans, a practice which became even more common after exposure to Christianity.

There may be several years of school that he prefers to go by "Mike", though.

Hope you got both thingies from Target. I'm still keeping my eyes open for Terra, so she doesn't feel too left out. Mom gave me a hint, and now I know what a "video rocker" is.

Thank you Sean, for your vote of encouragement regarding my choice of how to spell my son's name.

I do think that he may prefer to go by Mike as well, but we will see. The original name was going to be Ethan Christopher, however, after the sonogram, both of us felt that was not the right name at all.

Anything that is purchased online through Target, I have set to ship to the church, for 3 reasons. 1. The shower is going to be here. 2. There is always someone in the office to sign for it. 3. If it goes to my apartment, the mailman is lazy and just leaves it at the post office, and gives me a note to make me go pick it up there. I figured, that if it came to the church, then I would be able to have someone help me if I needed it.
