Due to a problem with an automailer, my Inbox has been flooded with 16,000 emails today. Processing this made my email program completely unusable, so I shut it down and spent the last half hour re-learning IMAP so that I could telnet into the mail server and delete the messages there. Wheeee.

And a different mail reader was out of the question. I am assuming that you fond it more fun to relearn IMAP which is kinda sick and wrong. But I understand.

Honestly, I thought learning enough IMAP would be faster and easier than installing and configuring a mailreader that would handle the load more efficiently, and would have greater long-term utility.

Not that I'm debating the "sick and wrong" part, however.

I pretty much just had to learn the LOGIN, SELECT, STORE, EXPUNGE, CLOSE, and LOGOUT commands, which all have good examples in the RFC.
