Yay! Survey questions!

What it like being "No, not that Sean, the other Sean?" Or, less snidely, what's it like having such a common name?
I think my parents intended it to be an uncommon name, but my preschool class had two Seans, a Shawn, and a Shawna. At least one of them was in the same class as me all the way through elementary school. Even then, I was usually "the other Sean". This kind of naming conflict does tend to make it easier for me to fade into the background. Sometimes that's a good thing. More often, it's what I want.
Also, I think it has helped to learn not to take as many spoken things personally. Whenever I hear somebody say something about me, I have to stop and ask myself if they are talking about me. This leads to a lot of self-evaluation and self-doubt.

What do you look for in a romantic partner?
Has a pulse and likes me. Um. Somebody I can respect. The best way to win that respect is to demonstrate your geek-fu, to learn like a sponge and absorb at least one catagory in life with insatiable curiosity. Someone who agrees with me that most things are subjective and not really worth arguing about. Somebody who understands the importance of hugs and cuddling. Somebody who isn't reluctant to give me constructive criticism when I need it.

Congratulations! Your X-gene activates and you have a superpower! What is it?
The ability to summon or create invisible daemons that do my bidding but require extremely complicated and precise instructions. I want to program reality.

What musical group do not enough people appreciate?
There are bands I like, but that's just my personal preference. I can't take that as evidence that those bands are underappreciated.

You have the opportunity to take over the life of one fictional character. Who is it?
This is revenge for the "fictional location" question, isn't it? In most of the stories I like, life is terrible for the character. Ender Wiggins, Lucifer, Paul Atreides, Ponder Stibbons, Elric ... one big ouch after another. Probably Ponder, simply because playing in the High Energy Magic building would make life in a quasi-medieval world tolerable.

I feel your "Sean" love.

I had the "let's call him Mike, and him Michael and him Mikey and...."

I got stuck with Mike, but I think, now that it's all behind me (and I identify myself as "Mike") I would have preferred Michael.
