Thought for Today
Sin lies only in hurting other people unnecessarily. All other "sins" are invented nonsense. (Hurting yourself isnot sinful -- just stupid.)

Thoughts like that are exactly why I love reading that man's work, even if there are somethings in there that I don't agree with.

I'd be very surprised to find somebody who agreed with 100% of what he said. I haven't found ANY authors yet that I completely agree with.

Just a for-example for Heinlein that I'm pretty sure you disagree with: one the same page, he talked about how the "tragedy" of same-sex relationships is that it is far more difficult to forge the kind of spiritual bond which makes sex into something more than friendly exercise.

Re:
Hmmmmm. I disagree with it, but I can also see where one might come up with the thought. Yeah. He specifically treats women in a light which is hard to place for me. If he's trying to show women as sexually liberated creatures who feel free to have sex as they wish, that's great. If he's showing that women made that way would have sex all the time indiscriminantly, not so great.

Does that make sense?

Definitely. He consistently fails to make the distinction between "sexually liberated women", and "sexually liberated women who choose to have indiscriminate sex all the time". This is closely tied to the main complaint about Heinlein's female characters: he only has one female character, the extremely intelligent hypersexed liberated redhead.

*chuckles*

There are a few others, but they are all shaded that direction.

Exactly why I don't read his writing.
