Grim Thoughts
I just received my Social Security Statement today. It looks like I'll have my mandatory "40 credits" within two years. Then it's just another 40 years until "retirement age".

Unless they change it again. Or scrap it entirely. Or just run out of funds. Or something else happens to the world's largest pyramid scheme.

The good news: By the time we're retirement age, there won't be as many baby boomers causing a draw on Social Security. And so the funds might have built up.

And, while our generation is fairly small, the one that follows us is (so far) looking to be larger than ours.

Meaning there will be lots of people supporting us.
