TextPayMe - so awesome, most Amazonians don't know about it.

I have heard of this thing but know not how it works.

It's like PayPal, with better cell-phone support and no fees.
  1. A coworker and I both have food and drinks at Brouwer's
  2. I put the bill on my credit card, and tell him he can just TextPayMe his $36
  3. He sends a text to Amazon (262966) with the text "pay sean 36"
  4. Amazon's robot army calls him to confirm, and he inputs a PIN. Money is taken from his credit card
  5. I get a text telling me that he has paid me $36
  6. I can transfer money to a "real" account, use it for other Amazon payments, turn it into an Amazon Gift Card, etc. on payments.amazon.com

*ponders*

This seems a dangerous and yet awesome thing.

Yeah. It's really optimized for splitting restaurant bills, without everyone having to carry cash or convince the staff to "put $30 on this card, $25 on that card, etc".

I'm trying to convince more of the Pub Night crowd to use it.

I shall have to watch it in action at some point.
