Finally ordering a PS3
What games should I get?

Reallllly?

Hrmmmm. I think Steve had an extra copy of GTAIV.

Wow. This will lead to TV upgrades, you know.

Never had any interest in the GTA series.

Yeah, probably will lead to TV upgrade. It's the mortgage-free month.

I've heard good things about Elder Scrolls IV.
Lady Doomlithera on May 1st, 2008 04:04 pm (UTC)
Oblivion is the most freaking addictive game. I love it so. So MANY QUESTS.

MMmmmmmm.

Well, having recently done the TV upgrade thing, I'm willing to chat about it all.

When it's time to upgrade the TV, let me know. I work for a wholesaler, and can allow friends to buy at wholesale. As long as it's "not abused."

You won't see prices at that link, but if you see a model you are curious about, I can get you the pricing.

PS3 games?

These are the ones I've heard good things about:
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (think Tomb Raider with a guy)
Oblivion (high fantasy goodness)
Rock Band (RAWK!)
Motorstorm (offroad racing)
Resistance: Fall of Man (sci-fi first person shooter)
Then you have the multiplatform titles - Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Rainbow Six Vegas 2, GTA4, etc

Games to STAY AWAY FROM
Lair (dragon game where you fly around fighting other dragons and killing villagers... it's pretty, but the game SUCKS)
Heavenly Sword (another pretty game ... but it lasts about 5 hours)
Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire (Evidently it's like trying to play a combat game in bland molasses - slow, unresponsive and rather boring)

The bigger question for me is - why a PS3 and not a 360?

Oh
www.gamerankings.com
It's my website of choice when looking at lots of games - it aggregates review scores.

I tend to use GameRatio.com

Cheapest Blu-ray player out there that happens to play games too.

I'm one of those who keeps a seperate media play and a game system. Yes, I might rarely watch movies on my game system, but that's only if my media player is on the fritz.

I enjoy the elegance of good convergence. Taking up less space is a win for me.

Final Fantasy, Blu-ray, and a deep-seated prejudice against all things Microsoft.

Fair.

I've seen how much Sony has jerked people around with the PS3, and I probabally won't pick one up until the PS4 comes out - then I'll go back and play Final Fantasy and WHite Knight Story (the only 2 games that have caught my eye so far) ... Of course that assumes that Final Fantasy doesn't jump ship to 360 as well...
Auto-defenestration has never been this funm00t on May 1st, 2008 04:41 pm (UTC)
I don't have a PS3, however I've heard good things about:
COD4 (Fun but short)
Lego Star Wars (silly fun)
ES:IV
Orange Box (HL2/TF2/Portal)

I wish there were more games out for it. All I'd use it for is to play PS2 games. And all the games I'd play from the above I can get / have on PC. Heh

Don't forget that most new PS3 don't have backwards compatibility anymore...

Oh right, GG Sony.
GryMorgrymor on May 1st, 2008 04:54 pm (UTC)
I can loan you:
Assassin's Creed
Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction
Motor Storm

I have an extra copy of GTAIV that I don't need (well, will today or tomorrow).

Assassin's Creed is pretty sweet. I think you would enjoy stalking around then leaping on unsuspecting guards and silting their throats.
The Mouseelscoobysnacko on May 1st, 2008 09:55 pm (UTC)
i liked heavenly sword. yes it is short unless you are having trouble with the Kai parts... Oblivion is sweet too. Assasin's Creed is very fun as well. I like folk lore, it's semi rgp meets adventure game haven't beaten it yet. i also like plFF XI on there as well
