Arrived in San Francisco
Alaskan Airlines tried to sell me a credit card mid-flight. Very annoying, will be sending properly curmudgeonly letters to them and travelocity. I figure this is preverable to venting rage at flight attendants.

Registered for conference, picked up the "free" t-shirt, backpack, and notebook. Seems a bit smaller and sturdier than last year's backpack, with panels in traffic-vest orange. This is such a geek conference that they issue everybody laptop bags and have ubiquitous free wireless. Unfortunately, it's also such a geek conference that the male-female ratio is about 30-1 - and most of the 30 don't have basic sanitation skills. By friday, I will be VERY thankful that my hotel (and it's bathroom) is only two blocks away.

Panels and such start tomorrow. I'll probably be making one post for each panel I actually attend, making liberal use of lj-cut.

Saw a place next to the convention center that claims to do thai food. Might try that tonight; it will be absurdly crowded the rest of the week.

Tried to stop by to surprise my mother at work this morning, but she's evidently still down in Vancouver, taking care of my grandmother (two strokes over the weekend. Uck.).

Kat, we need to book flights for comic-con. If prices are comporable between Alaska and Anybody Else, I'm leaning toward Anybody Else after that credit-card crap.

Yes, I have been looking at flights already. They have suggested that we wait until within sixty days of leaving for better deals, so I will be looking again on Thursday to see if prices have improved since prices are currently crap. Alaska has had direct flights, everyone else has stops so far from what I've seen.

Credit card offer greater or lesser annoyance than changing planes in LAX or Vegas?

Meh, it's a mild leaning. Not worth adding hours to the trip or much money to the cost. Honestly, the credit card offer will probably be less annoying when it isn't delivered by that flight attendant - her voice was particularly piercing.

I need more wine.
