At dinner tonight, some of my friends were threatening to drop me on one "or more" social networks due to excessive crossposting. This confused me.

I've just verified my settings and double checked my archive page, and I still don't get this claim.

Here's my current setup (largely because I despise Facebook and try to avoid interacting directly with the damn thing):
public Livejournal posts -> Facebook notes
tweets -> Facebook status updates
Google Reader shared articles -> Facebook (although my comments are stripped off)

There's also some stuff on tumblr and friendfeed, but I don't think anybody is significantly using those platforms.

If you are following me on one of those three "real" services and following me on Facebook then you will see duplication. If you see any more duplication than that, let me know.

Tattoo appointment at 2:30. I'll probably be there about 3 hours.

Since Kyna has skating practice this evening, we'll be making it down to Tacoma separately (both late), but riding home together. After I finish up with Nando, I'll catch the ST #594 to Tacoma, and (depending on the time) call Kyna and/or people at [info]fireballof3's birthday gaming extravaganza to see about a pickup (probably 6:30-7:00 PM). If neither option is available, I'll just catch a Pierce Transit #2 up the hill.

Steve, Matt, and Jeff have already cancelled, leaving two players, which I consider less than quorum. Will call people after 11 AM to make sure the message gets out.

I've been talking about this for a while, so I guess it's time to pick a date.

Wednesday, June 24th. Meet at Georgetown Liquor Company at 6:30. We shouldn't have too much trouble getting tables on a weeknight.

Here's the plan:
1) If you can see this, you are invited. If you don't happen to live in the Seattle area, I'll accept your pathetic excuse for not joining in.
2) We'll get a little food to share and sample at each place, mostly appetizers and such. Booze is an option, for those so inclined.
3) Every so often, we'll move onto the next place for Pub Grub. Eventually, some of us may make it to Smarty Pants.
4) I'll post to Twitter (which will percolate to Facebook) when we move on to a new place. Of course, you can also call me if you are trying to meet up with us after we leave GLC.

I commute primarily by public transit, and spend many, many miles each week as a pedestrian. I don't ride a bicycle, but the "bad" bicyclists definitely stand out to me, bot has a pedestrian and as an occasional driver.

Stunts like this (or just about anything else Critical Mass oriented) gets particularly infuriating, since they take Bike Power to such an extent that they create traffic hazards and consistently create problems for pedestrians and transit.

Yes, I realize that not all bicyclists are like this, but the "bad" ones are frequent and prominent.

Based on reviews, it doesn't sound like this is worth much more than a matinee, and it sounds like there's going to be a protest downtown, so...

3:15 at Regal Parkway plaza 12 (near South Center)? We're contemplating dinner at the Elliot Bay Brewery in Burien afterward.

Original, whiny post here

Mistakes I can see:
Failure to bring cash to a concert.
Planning on camping at a concert.
Taking a tent he didn't know how to use.
Failure to bring a water vessel or use any of the on-site ATMs to get cash for water.
Eating concert food (apparently he eventually figured out how to get cash).
Failure to plan finding his own car.
... and that's before the "Sasquatch has become my prison" point.

Finally gave this to Kyna.
Will need to be sized correctly for her dainty hand.

Option 0: I go to Sasquatch as previously planned. Even if this is feasible by having some of the Legions of Volunteers help take care of Kyna while I'm gone, I would be sufficiently stressed and worried that this would become 3 days of un-fun for myself and people around me.

Option 1: The other extreme. Sell all three of my tickets locally, or send them with the ladies, so that they can sell them onsite to defer my expected share of hotel/gas costs. This seems to be overdoing it.

Option 2: Sell/send tickets for Saturday and Monday, then drive out by myself on Sunday morning. Gives me one more day of taking care of Kyna myself, and I can easily get somebody to stop in and visit Kyna/drive her around if needed for one day. I don't think I'll get too worried for one day away.

Option 2a: Drive back after NIN. This results in a day of 5 hours of driving East + N hours of concerts + 5 hours of driving East. Driving over the pass by myself after midnight doesn't seem like a brilliant idea.

Option 2b: Sleep in Ellensburg, drive remainder of way home in morning. Safer. Maybe have brunch with Kat, Kris, and Holly before heading home.

Of course, if I don't go to Ellensburg on Saturday, I'll make arrangements with the hotel so that the rest of you can check in.

Pain like the ovarian cyst from a few years back, maybe worse. Looks like the starboard ovary isn't getting any blood flow. In surgery to correct (or remove). Will post more details later.

The plan: after visiting family Saturday, we would find a Target near the hotel for some sales-tax free shopping.

The reality:
The iPhone version of Google Maps finds two locations for "Target" near where we were staying: the first one turned out to be a corporate office buried in office-park land, and the second doesn't exist at all.

Remembering that I have a Best Buy store credit (from a 2007 Xmas present), we decided to give up on Target for the day and see if there was anything worth buying at Best Buy (not much, especially since I kept comparing prices with Amazon). While starting my car, a local pointed out that my rear-right tire was flat.

With a bit of grimy work, I was able to remove the nuts, but the offending tire wouldn't budge, despite all my pulling, pushing, and kicking. After we gave up and called AAA, I started trying to search for a nearby tire store. iPhone map search for "tire" brought up all 18 locations for the exact same company, so I called ahead.

How late are you open? "We close in about 8 minutes."
Do you know anybody who is open later? "Nope, all the other tire stores keep pretty much the same hours."
Are you open Sunday? "Nope."
Do you know of anybody open Sunday? "Nope."

Awesome.

The same local was able to dislodge my flat tire with one perfect kick, so I was able to find the nail-puncture and place on the stupid-little no-more-than-100-miles Subaru spare minutes before the tow-truck arrived. He said AAA gave him bad directions, and he'd originally arrived at an apartment complex.

He didn't know of any tire repair shops either. I started checking Google Maps again, looking for specific names like "les schwab", that didn't show up in the initial search for "tire". Found one the next freeway exit up, on "Boones Ferry rd" (NOT "Upper Boones Ferry rd" or "Booned Ferry rd place" or "Boones Ferry rd upper drive" - those are 4 different things). Of course, the Schwab closed at 5 and we arrived at 5:15, but I found some staff hanging out and closing shop. One of them gave me directions to a Bridgestone that might be open until 6. He gave directions, involving a turn on "Old Country road".

Look at that map. Do you see the intersection of Boones Ferry rd and Old Country rd?

There isn't one. I guessed "Country Club rd", and we found the Bridgestone. Kyna called ahead, and we made it in shortly before closing time.

But they didn't have any drop-in replacements for my right-rear tire, and thanks to the limitations of all-wheel drive there are constraints on how different the front and rear tires should be. He started talking about ordering some tires in from Nevada, and they could probably be in-shop by Tuesday...

Keep in mind, I hardly drive this car any more. I know it's probably past time to replace these tires. So, I suggest replacing all four - with the cheapest economy tires I can, in the land of no sales tax. The way I see it, his sales commission on four tires is his "tip" for staying open late to help us.

Other things to hate about Portland: idiot holier-than-thou helmetless bicyclists who don't know how to share the road and dog owners who think that leash laws are for other people - even in the wetlands wildlife/bird sanctuary.

Things to like about Portland: waffles served like tacos, brewpub with free wifi, good food, and all-weekend happy hour.

To try next time: gelato, baked goods, beer and wine open at 8 AM.
